Course Description
This Skill Badge is designed to increase understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion – particularly in the real estate management profession. Sections covered will be: What is DEI?, Privilege & Oppression, The Three Levels of Inequality and Taking Action.
Cultivating DEI Initiatives will help you and your team:
- Develop a common understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion across all of the IREM community
- Understand core concepts such as privilege, oppression, and socialization
- Explain the nature of social inequality in the US and how it operates
- Empower property managers and IREM members with knowledge on how they can start their own DEI initiatives in the workplace, their chapter, or other communities
This Skill Badge builds upon the knowledge gained from the IREM Skill Badge: Building DEI, but can also be completed separately.

- This self-paced online course is approximately 3 hours and includes instructor video, text, and learning activities. The course is followed by the 25-question online exam.
